MTHFR and Metals

So, we did some genetic testing last spring and it turns out Alexi has a double mutation called MTHFR (MethyleneTetraHydroFolate Reductase) A1298C.  Among other things, this genetic condition means that her body is susceptible to metal toxicity.  I have googled this condition over, and over and over – here’s just one article example: http://mthfrliving.com/health-conditions/heavy-metals/.

What I know, in my heart of hearts, is that this MTHFR issue is a sign that babies, at birth, ideally should be pre-tested to see what genetic predispositions they have BEFORE parents & doctors decide to vaccinate.  Vaccines are just one part of the toxic soup that can push certain kids over the edge, and I am not saying only vaccines “cause autism” – however – they do contain a certain level of risk vs. benefit and I strongly feel that if we humans have the capacity to test for genetic mutations, we should use this ability to give families a chance to know the whole picture and not treat everyone the same.  A brand new baby is a precious thing – but even babies are not perfect – and not everyone starts out in this life with the same deck of cards, so to speak.

If your interest is piqued, pls watch this doctor explain what her thinking is about the issues and potential causes are surrounding Autism….

I believe it is worth your time – after you see these 20 minutes –  you’ll better understand just what us parents of autistic children are dealing with – the webs we need to untangle – the puzzle pieces that we need to find – in order to try to help our kids feel better.  I have a lot of hope that we can help our daughter to feel better — but doing so takes so much time, energy and $$$$, and it is easy to get discouraged and to give up because it’s very complicated.  This video helps give me hope, and it might help give you hope as well if you have a loved one who struggles with an autism-related issue.  Chances are, as Autism has climbed to 1 in 36, if you don’t know anyone, you soon will.
